Summary: | Hospital Policy Survey on Dietary Supplement Use I. Abstrakt The diploma thesis deals with hospital regulations regarding dietary supplements used by hospitalized patients in the Czech Republic. The results are based on a questionnaire survey, which was answered by various hospital staff. The questionnaire was distributed electronically to hospitals. Questions were focused on internal written rules for administration of dietary supplements, vitamins, minerals and herbal products, on dietary supplements informational sources, on the rules for adminitstration and storage of dietary supplements to in-patients and also on documentation of the use. Furthermore, questions were focused on the standards used by medical institution to determine which dietary supplements will be given priority to, who and in what way supervises interactions between dietary supplements and drugs used by in-patients, where the suspicion on undesirable side effects of dietary supplements is notified, and whether hospitals have pre-operative recommendations regarding the use/discontinuation of dietary supplements.
