Summary:This thesis deals with literary modernist strategies and narrative techniques in selected works of Virginia Woolf. The theoretical part gives a general outline of modernism as such. It also deals with the Bloomsbury Group which significantly influenced the work of Virginia Woolf. The practical part is focused on the analysis of two novels written by this author. These are Mrs Dalloway(1925) and To the Lighthouse(1927). This part looks into the approach of the author concerning the characters` inner life, gender, contemporary society and to her usage of imagery.
