| Summary: | This thesis talks about the sense of smell and its role in everyone's life. It deals with possible differences in the olfactory ability of people with visual impairment in comparison to those with no impairment. This work is divided into two main parts - theoretical and practical - and is structured into 6 main chapters. The first part describes the role of smell from a historical point of view, as well as the causes and results of its defects. Also described is the act of processing smell with specific reference to visually impaired people. The second part describes the olfactory test UPSIT and its evaluated results. The main goal of this thesis is to compare the olfactory abilities of people with visual impairment and people wihout any, while focusing on the diference between them. |
