Summary: | This work would like to point out to the preaching activities of Origen and John Chrysostom. At first it approaches the Christian preaching in the first centuries, in general. It deals with the individual topics used for the word of preaching at that time, attempts to classify the sermons according to different categories and also mentions the way in which the sermons were preserved, touching upon the question of authorship. The work also analyses the problems of the preaching activities of the fathers. In addition it also offers parts dedicated to the origins of the preaching and the circumstances in which they were created or pronounced. The main topic of the work is the oeuvre of the authors Origen and John Chrisostom, as well as the context of their preaching activities. Gradually, the work addresses Origen and the translation of his eleventh sermon on Jeremiah and offers a study of this sermon. The work also attends to Chrisostom and his activities as a preacher, again including the translation of one of his sermons. It is the sixth sermon on the Book of Genesis and its further analysis.
