Summary:The thesis deals with a numerical simulation of viscous compressible flows. We employ the discontinuous Galerkin nite element method (DGFEM), which is suitable for the parallel implementation. In the fi rst stage we employ the PETSc library for the parallel solution of the corresponding linear algebra solvers. We present a set of numerical experiments, which demonstrates effciency of the developed code. We also deal with adaptive choice of time step. We estimate local error of discretization by virtue of one solution from BDF method and one from extrapolation method. The time step choice is then based on this estimation.
