Description
Summary:The thesis called Problems of accepting children to a school of arts or a primary school with extended music education discusses testing of musical abilities. The first chapter defines the two school types as institutions providing continual education in music. The second chapter introduces the topic of musical abilities, their classification and diagnostics. Musical abilites are assessed most frequently by means of a test. Examples of standardized tests of musicality are given in chapter 2.4. Important part of the thesis is chapter 3, which presents actual tests of musicality as performed in individual schools. For this purpose I collaborated with multiple schools representing different school types. The practical part of the thesis describes particular tests of musicality I use in my teaching. Having performed an analysis of the present state I proposed a new way of testing children's musical abilities, with focus on motivation and experience. The exercises presented here may become inspiration to music teachers at both primary schools and schools of arts and possibly enrich their work.
