This thesis is focused on the problem of loneliness at old age. The target of this thesis was to find out the most common causes for loneliness of the monitored sample of 93 informants who live at home or are in asylums. Another target was to find our how do the seniors live out their loneliness and how do they handle it. In the research part of this thesis we are trying to confirm the determined targets and hypothesis on the basis of the chosen methods (structured interview, monitoring and subjective evaluation). The research is focused on the family background of the seniors, social relations of the seniors, attitude of the seniors towards old age and quality of life in the environment they are living in now, activities, interested of the seniors etc.
