Summary: | In theoretical part of this work, the skin barrier function and transdermal permeation enhancers (with focus on Transkarbam 12, T12) were reviewed. In following experimental part, the acceleration effect of various concentrations of Transkarbam 12 (T12) on in vitro caffeine permeation through full-thickness pig ear skin was evaluated. Caffeine was administered in oleocreams containing 30 % aqueous phase. The values of mean flux of caffeine Jr from creams containing 0%; 0,3%; 0,5%; 0,7% and 1% T12 were 6,29 ± 0,90 μg.cm-2.h-1; 9,13 ± 0,95 μg.cm-2.h-1; 8,71 ± 1,91 μg.cm 2.h-1; 10,20 ± 3,25 μg.cm-2.h-1 and 7,06 ± 0,81 μg.cm-2.h-1 respectively. Keywords: Transkarbam 12, transdermal permeation enhancers, caffeine, oleocream
