| Summary: | The aim of the thesis is to describe the role and importance of sociocultural competence in the process of teaching French as a foreign language at schools in the Czech Republic. This modern approach is dealing with the needs of a user of foreign language in real life. The main point of the thesis is focusing at the connection of language with culture and society in a given country and showing possible negative results caused by lack of knowledge of sociocultural competence. The project of the thesis offers inspiration and stimulation how to develop sociocultural comptence in French classes so that the activities are as interesting and enriching for the students as possible. The focus of the thesis is methodology of teaching French as a foreign language and the thesis is helpful not only for teachers of French, but for all people interested in modern approaches towards language teaching.
