Summary: | The topic of the thesis deals with the issue of the people after cerebrovascular events and their subsequent rehabilitation. Introduction of the theoretical part is devoted to the definition of age in terms of physiology and psychology. The starting point for a theoretical treatment of the subject is the concept of comprehensive care for people after cerebrovascular events. On the basis of theoretical texts, this part focuses on the most common types of communication disorders in people with neurological disease, especially on aphasia, dysarthria, dysphagia, and cognitive communication disorders. I focused the practical part on the case histories of two patiens at Geriatric and rehabilitation center in Kladno, where I had watched their three-month stay. I gave the greatest attention primarily on speech therapy, but I also focused on other provided care. This section also includes a rating scale of the availability and level of speech intervention. The results of this work is evaluation of speech therapy, physiotherapy and ergotherapeutic activities in a rehabilitation facility. The information should help to consider the need for high quality and comprehensive care for people after cerebrovascular events.
