60 Summary The International Labour Organisation, established 90 years ago, belongs to the main United Nations' organisations. It plays a unique role in the field of international organisations. It fights for better social and work conditions around the world. The ILO has currently 182 members, who participate in the organisation's functioning. One of its main aims is to regulate working standards. During the last nine decades, the organisation has managed to assert the principles of humanity and solidarity. It helped social and work relations in many world areas. However, when trying to answer the question: Where is this organisation heading to? Only future can answer this question. Chapter 1 deals with the general characteristics of the International Labour Organisation. Chapter 2 focuses on the relation between international and national law. It especially concentrates on how this issue is dealt with in the Constitution of the Czech Republic, i.e. introduction to ILO from the point of public law. Chapter 3 includes questions of international organisations dealing with social issues. It focuses on relations with the United Nations Organisation and the Council of Europe.
