| Summary: | Encephalitides are inflammatory brain diseases usually caused by viruses, but also by other microbes. Clinical picture may be asymptomatic disease with mild, but also very severe course sometimes lethaly ending. In this dissertation I wanted to give an overview of some encephalitides especially tick-borne encephalitis , which has growing tendency in the area of Czech Republic. I have mentioned the epidemiological studies from the year 2005, an overview of high risk areas in our country , where the infected ticks are, the prevention and the possibility of vaccination.
