Two norwegian scientists, Johan Galtung and Man Ruge, had studied newsworthiness of overseas events presented in Norwegian press. As a result they presented study about twelve factors that influence the selection. Their study come from 1963. My aim is to reconsider their findings to present day journalism in the Czech republic. First part of my work will be theoretical thinking about news values, second part will be analysis of three czech dailies.
