| Summary: | I deal in my work with Roma speech. The theoretical part is based on the available literature, which summarize the basic concepts related to the Roma ethnolect. I chose Jihlava as a starting place of my research. I examined how today's Roma youngsters use elements of ethnolect on the basis of recorded and transcribed interviews. Another objective was to determine if Romani words correspond to its original meaning, or is merely fulfills the function of padding words. I tried to assess the degree of market penetration of Romany words in colloquial Czech and also if this phenomenon affects language of other people in Jihlava. |
