In the first part of the thesis we start with historical context about spreading of phantastical stories in fairy tales, epics, stories as a literary structure, in which mythology was originaly given for adult listeners and readers. Further we summarize general knowledge about czech and foreign phantasy writers writing for children and youth. We meet authors of phantasy books, who we have chosen for detailed analysis. Last, but not least we summarise key facts concerning world war II. in connection with the main topic of the work. Second part deals with comparison and diferanciation of phantasy books Lord of the rings, The Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter.
