The transport industry has taken the lead in developing new technologies to track cargo containers and the transport platforms, for billions of dollars are at stake. This thesis examines the present and future communication and tracking systems used by the transport industry. Furthermore, an investigation into the tracking methods for high value items such as diamonds will be disclosed.
