Summary: | The United States Marine Corps concept for the projection of naval power ashore is Operational Maneuver From the Sea (OMFTS). In order to carry out the concept in OMFTS, the Marine Expeditionary Unit is a force to project power. To ensure the MEU is successful it requires logistics support back to the sources of supply. The objective of this thesis is to introduce the current methods of supporting the MEU and to provide recommendations for improvements. It focuses on the support organizations, Traffic Management Office (TMO), Deployed Support Unit (DSU), MEU Service Support Group (MSSG), Preservation, Packing, Packaging (PP&P), and the expeditor concept. The thesis also examines the existing technology in the Global Transportation Network (GTN) using In- Transit Visibility (ITV) to track shipments.
