Summary:Approved for public release; distribution is unlimited === In order to understand more fully the wind generation of water waves, the oceanographer should have a better knowledge of the turbulence structure of the wind field immediately above a water surface. Measurements of atmospheric turbulence about three inches above the surface of a lake, using a hot-wire anemometer, were made. The analog signals were recorded as DC voltages on a magnetic tape recorder. The analog data were converted to digital form to permit subsequent computation of power spectral densities using a high-speed digital computer. Average power spectral densities from 0 to 20, 0 to 500, and 0 to 1000 cps, respectively, are presented.
