Summary: | Measurements of the first lobe of diffraction transition radiation from a hole in a thin aluminum foil for electron-beam energies of 32.9 MeV and 63.3 MeV has been made. The effect of the hole size was investigated using radii of 3 cm, 5 cm, and 7 cm. Although the measured peak angle and intensity are not well matched to the theoretical values, these experiments attempt to isolate the diffraction transition radiation from Cerenkov radiation and transition radiation. The normalization of the detected signal to the beam current was tried for compensation of the beam fluctuation. Conclusive results have not yet been obtained, but this investigation provides directions for future experiments |
