Description
Summary:The general problem of the mixed-layer depth ot the ocean's surface layers is discussed. Wind mixing and its contribution to mixedlayer depth at ocean station Papa during the year 1958 is evaluated and discussed. A model of mixing by wind-generated wave motion is developed and is tested along with two other models; and the results are discussed. The author wishes to express his appreciation for the advice and assistance given by Profe sot C H. Jung of the U. S. Naval Postgraduate School in this investigation, and also his thanks to the Pacific Oceanic Group for their kindness in making available the necessary oceanographic data.
