Description
Summary:Bibliography: leaves 122-139. === This thesis describes investigations into the genetic effects of long term UV-B exposure in Namaqualand daisies (Dimorphotheea sinuata) grown for several generations under ambient and enhanced UV-B levels. Enhanced UV-B radiation was found to have a major effect on the biochemical composition of the chloroplast accompanied by impairment of photosynthetic function, involving a down-regulation of photosynthetic genes and an up-regulation of flavonoid biosynthesis.
