Description
Summary:Includes abstract. === Includes bibliographical references (leaves 106-120). === To date, surgery is the mainstay treatment for HNPCC. Adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy are often used to reduce systemic and locoregional recurrence, respectively, after curative surgical resection. The main chemotherapeutic agent is 5-Fluoroucacil (5-FU). Studies have attempted to elucidate whether the MMR status of a colorectal cancer (CRC) cohort will define a response to 5-FU therapy. However, no difference in long term response or survival after 5-FU treatment between patients with MMR-proficient and MMR-deficient tomours were detected.
