As the pool of players to select the Springboks from has diminished in recent times, it is important for the South African Rugby Union (SARU) to identify and develop young, talented individuals to strengthen the pool of available players. Several talent identification and development programmes have been implemented by SARU with limited success and many of them are not offered anymore.
