The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analyses of the Fischer-Tropsch (FT) hard waxes display multiple melting peaks, the origin of which is unknown. The phenomenon is sometimes referred to in the literature, but no attempt has been made to explain its cause. There are a few known causes of melting bimodality in n-alkanes and their mixtures, petroleum waxes and polymers. These are: polymorphism, chain folding and bimodal molecular weight distributions 2015-01-06T19:04:16Z 2015-01-06T19:04:16Z 2009 Doctoral Thesis Doctoral PhD http://hdl.handle.net/11427/11668 eng application/pdf University of Cape Town Faculty of Science Department of Chemistry
