M.Tech Public Management. === Community development can be achieved in many ways. This study aimed to determine the extent to which the mining industry in Mogalakwena Municipality has succeeded in uplifting the lives of the community as part of its contribution towards the Limpopo Employment, Growth and Development Strategy. The role of the private sector plays a pivotal role in changing the living conditions of the community as it relates to inter alia; employment, entrepreneurship opportunities, education, health and infrastructural development. The study attempted to determine the impact of the development by the mining industry and the extent to which it has addressed Local Economic Development as an integral part of the Limpopo Employment, Growth and Development Strategy. The study gathered information based on the mining management and Mogalakwena Municipality management. Approximately six (6) respondents represented the selected sample, and documentation in providing an assessment of the development achieved. The study also provided all the stakeholders with an opportunity to assess the extent of service delivery at the Mogalakwena Municipality.
