Summary: | The research centres mainly around the following questions:
* What is the nature of the role of the woman in society?
* What is the nature of role conflict?
* Does the female married teacher experience role conflict?
In the literature study attention was paid to the nature of the
role of the woman in society and the nature of role conflict. Six
areas of the experiencing of role conflict were identified:
negative role conflict in the role as mother, as teacher and
between the two roles and positive in the role as mother, as
teacher and between the two roles. Conflict can be time-based,
strain-based or behaviour-based.
An empirical research was conducted by means of a structured post
questionnaire to determine to which extent the female teacher
with children of her own experiences role conflict.
Finally a summary of the literature study and empirical study was
made. It was found that the female married teacher has a
positive attitude towards her dual role. The only areas where
she experiences role conflict are time-based and strain-based.
Suggestions were made with regard to future research. === Skripsie (MEd)--PU vir CHO, 1994
