This unique response style for each subject was expected to make prediction from his elementary judgements more accurate than prediction from the measures stimulus values. Rectangular area was selected as the complex dimension, with width and height as the elementary predictors. Using a scale from 10 to 80, each subject gave categorical judgements on each of the three dimensions for a series of 81 Iogarithmically varying rectangles presented visually.
