Summary:Pool boiling heat transfer data from a 0.0315 cm diameter 'Alumel' wire 15.2 cm long of which the middle 8.9 cm was used as the heat transfer surface to water, toluene, methanol, carbon tetrachloride, normal propyl alcohol and to binary mixtures of isopropyl alcohol/water are reported. Experiments were carried out on a stationary and on a vibrating wire. The ranges of vibrational parameters were frequencies up to 124 Hz and amplitudes up to 0.203 cm, i.e. approximately seven times the wire diameter.
