Summary: | Resorcylic acid lactones (RALs) are a biologically important and structurally interesting class of natural products. Recently the Barrett group has developed a novel, biomimetic strategy to access RALs that bypasses many common inefficiencies inherent to more classical synthetic approaches. The focus of this thesis consists of a synthetic study of the RALs radicicol and paecilomycin B that utilised this methodology. |
