Description
Summary:New techniques have been developed for the analysis of reflection data obtained from metal surfaces. An optimization study has been carried out and it has been shown that for n and k values observed for metals optimization becomes critical. Optimized reflection techniques have been used in experimental studies on terbium and gadolinium films prepared in ultra high vacuum, and the resulting optical conductivity curves are shown to be in good agreement with the predictions of a simple theory based on inter band optical transitions.
