Description
Summary:This thesis investigates the formation of microstructural features, known as craters, within the Galvanneal coating. The work was carried out under laboratory-controlled conditions on a Rhesca hot dip simulator. The thesis examines the nucleation and growth of craters within the coating as it changes from the galvanised coating to the galvanneal coating. The effect of production process parameters upon the nucleation and growth of craters was also investigated. In addition the work also analysed the effect that craters have upon the forming properties of the coating.
