Summary: | The thesis comprises a literature review of the existing research on interventions to improve self-management of diabetes. An empirical paper describing the conception, designing and evaluation of a new psychological intervention for people with diabetes and self-management problems. The intervention is a mindfulness-based approach formulated for this population. The intervention was piloted with a group and individuals. The evaluation uses both qualitative and quantitative methodology to assess the acceptability, safety and feasibility of the new intervention. The third section of the thesis is a critical appraisal of the process of conducting the empirical research. |
