Constructions of uncountable rigid structures

We construct some uncountable set theoretical structures with trivial automorphism group but admitting non-trivial epimorphism and/or embedding monoids. The structures we consider are Suslin trees, dense subchains of the real line and graphs with vertices in ω₁.
