Summary: | The central aim of this thesis was to extend current knowledge of caregiving and care receiving in older adults, by investigating negative reactions to receiving spousal care. Parkinson's disease (PD), a neuro-degenerative disorder that predominantly affects people in later life, was selected for study because PD patients and their caregivers are faced with a variety of challenges from physical and psychological symptoms of the illness, thus providing a rich ground for investigating reactions to giving and receiving care. |
