| Summary: | Scottish manuscript musicbooks of the sixteenth century are not numerous, therefore all the more precious. The Scone MS. The Dunkeld. Book: And the St-Andrews Psalter: These collections alone survive before the Song books of the following century. Of these the last named is the subject of this stud Y. Whether its editor was of much, or little account to his own contemporaries we do not know. Certainly to-day his fame rests solely upon his - Psalter, and for his patient labour upon that book posterity owes him a large measure of gratitude The St-Andrews Psalter the earliest harmonised metrical Psaltor extant in Scotland. It was compiled by Thomas Wod, or Wode, Reader in the post-Reformation Church, and Vicar of St. Andrews from 1575 until his death.
