The aim of this thesis is to give a systematic description of the acquisition of Persian and English syntax by a bilingual child. The work is presented in the form of five stages which have been selected on the basis of environmental changes which led to linguistic changes in the speech of the child. In each stage, the acquisition of sentence types, word classes, syntactic relations and time relations during that period is discussed and compared with that of the earlier stage. A summary of the syntactic development together with conclusions drawn is given at the end of each stage. A survey of the field, the aim of the thesis, the description of the study and the child's biography are given in the Introduction and the final conclusion summarizes the findings made by the author on the basis of the analysis of the data.
