| Summary: | The purpose of this study was to examine victims of Guillain-Barre’ syndrome attitudes and beliefs about the effectiveness of the on-line support group as a way of coping with the disease. The sample for this study consisted of 10 adults from the United States, 10 from the United Kingdom, and 10 from Europe and Canada. The population in this study had attended or were presently attending a support group for Guillain-Barre’ victims. A questionnaire consisting of 35 items was administered via the internet. The variables tested were general attitudes towards support groups and beliefs about the effectiveness of the support group. The participants were asked demographic questions as well. The results were analyzed by cross-tabulation to detennine a relationship between variables. The findings indicated the participants in the study had positive attitudes and beliefs about the effectiveness of the support group. |
