In some instances terrestrial interconnection is practical, as in the case of short distances between communicating points. However, as distances become greater, so do the costs. Therefore, alternative cost effective methods of transmitting television and other types of signals for biomedical purposes are being sought. The development of high powered communications satellites demands consideration and experimentation.
