It does this by using a biocultural lens to critique treatments, stigma, and access to care. This is made possible by framing the argument around concepts of: stigmatization, structural violence, social support systems, and epigenetics. Ultimately the aim of this thesis is to expand the typical view of PTSD studies into a broader perspective, which includes structural factors, the importance of culture, and an acknowledgement of the role of the environment on human biology. Finally, suggestions are made to help encourage a more interdisciplinary approach to PTSD and other mental health disorders. 2015 text Electronic Thesis http://hdl.handle.net/10150/579268 en_US Copyright © is held by the author.
