Summary:The relationship of water infiltration into stream channel bed to texture, structure, and moisture content of the alluvium deposits and deposition of such water are investigated. The infiltration equation developed by Philip is used. The coefficients are estimated using data from an infiltration simulator and a double ring infiltrometer. A linear relationship between the absorptivity coefficient in the equation and the initial soil moisture is analyzed. A linear relationship between evapotranspiration transpiration rates and potential rates as measured empirically and the soil moisture depletion of the channel is discussed. Transmission losses during flow events are calculated and compared with actual values using the water budget method.
