The onset of the atomic age initiated the increased processing of uranium ore for its uranium content. Radium is a daughter product and a by-product of uranium ore and its purification. The uranium refinery wastes are released into streams in which all forms of aquati life are exposed to the radioactivity of the radium contaminated waters. |
