Summary:This thesis comprises a field and microscopic study of certain gold and copper deposits in the Flin Flon area. The gold deposits occur in gold-quartz-sulphide veins. These veins have been classed as: (1) gold-quartz veins, (2) quartz-sulphide-carbonate veins, (3) quartz-sulphide veins, and (4) quartz-arsenopyrite veins. One copper deposit was studied and it was classed as a sulphide replacement deposit. The mineralization occurs along fissures in volcanic rocks of the Amisk group and in post-Missi intrusions. The minerals were deposited from hydrothermal solutions. Metallic mineralization and wall rock alteration took place at intermediate to high temperatures and is related in age to the granodiorite or the Kaminis granite. The type of wall rock alteration accompanying the mineralisation depends on the nature of the hydrothermal solutions and on physical conditions, such as temperature and pressure.
