Out of the reactionary forces acting on the rotor, the gravitational force and the mechanical unbalance force proved to be the significant ones, while the gyroscopic reactionary force was relatively small. According to these calculations, to minimize the friction losses, a disc shaped flywheel should be constructed. In general smaller bearing of a chosen bearing type will cause less friction than a bigger bearing of the same type. The bearings also have to be strong and durable enough to meet the requirements of the application.
