The independent variables used are the GDP per capita, the ease of doing business, the network readiness index, global innovation index and the expenditure on R&D as a percentage of the GDP. The analysis was carried out using panel data. The main results were that the expenditure on r&d is, by a large margin, the factor that contributes the most to the number of unicorns per capita. It is followed by the global innovation index and the GDP per capita.
