Two adult students with word decoding difficulties in Swedish were identified and selected to participate in this study. One student took part in the intervention as the intervention group, and the other one participated in ordinary classroom activities, as a control group. The intervention group received decoding practice, five days a week, 20-30 minutes each time, for a total of 20 sessions during a five week period. Both students were tested before and after the intervention. The results showed that the student participating in the intervention made progress in decoding ability in each test compared to the control student. Both students increased their phonological awareness. The conclusion of this study is that decoding practice with Wendickmodellens Intensivläsning increases decoding ability.
