Summary: | Background: In healthcare where people with a multicultural background appear, meetings between nurses and patients from other cultures. During these meetings, several challenges may arise. Communication difficulties and language differences are one of the biggest challenges for nurses and patients. These challenges place demands on the nurses 'competencies and affect the nurses' care. Aim: To describe nurses' experiences of caring for patients from other cultures. Method: A systematic literature study with a qualitative approach and a descriptive synthesis. Results: Two themes emerged in the results: The importance of communication and culture and care meetings. The nurses experienced difficulties that could be an obstacle in the provision of individually structured care. Conclusion:The nurses always try to find solutions to overcome any obstacles that prevent care.
