Specific questions to be answered are• What knowledge or competencies contribute to increased employability?• To what extent do teachers and students view the building of employability as animportant part of the topic business administration?• To what extent do teachers and students perceive that the teaching within the topicadds to increased employability?• What are the views of teachers and students when it comes to letting the business lifeinfluence a larger part of the topic if this leads to increased employability? The theoretical tools that have been used have been Goodlad’s perspectives of curriculum,Broady’s and Jackson’s theories of the hidden curriculum and Fullan’s model of the 6 globalcompetencies for deep learning. The hypothesis of the thesis has been that both teachers and students would confirm that theconcept of employability has a natural place in their topic, and that this is allowed to shinethrough in the classroom education. This hypothesis is confirmed by the study. Anotherimportant conclusion of the study is that students and teachers rate the factors (knowledge, skills, and competencies) that leads to employability differently. When rating what factorscontributes the most to increased employability students are more apt to choose from factorscoming from the curriculum than teachers are. Teachers on their hand are more apt to choosefrom factors not coming from the curriculum but instead being derived from employers’ wishlist, and from Fullan’s research.Key words: employability, economics program, students, teachers, perspectives, curriculum, hidden, deep learning, Goodlad.
