Summary: | This degree project aims to investigate the views on cultural heritage which are mediated to students of lower and upper secondary school in southern Sweden, with a special focus on representativity, inclusion, and multiculturalism. The study is focused on the definitions of cultural heritage as well as mediation of cultural heritage among history teachers and museum pedagogues. Based on six separate semi-structured interviews with three teachers and four museum pedagogues, the definitions of cultural heritage is discussed and analysed, as well as the views on the mediation of cultural heritage and its function. The analysis of the empiric material is primarily based on Svante Beckman’s theory regarding cultural heritage and its functions, as well as Stefan Nyzell’s theory about the functions of teaching, and Anita Synnestvedt’s theory about cultural heritage as a concept. The results show that there are both correlations and distinctions between teachers and museum pedagogues, as well as within the two groups.
