Summary:The main purpose with this essay has been to compare four different schoolbooks, for 7th to - 9 th grade, from four different publishers. Due to the essay range, it only focuses on the description of the civil war in former Yugoslavia. The schoolbooks have been written according to the guidelines of the newest curriculum plan (Lgr 2011). The results of this dissertation show how there are significant differences between the schoolbooks. Key actors in the wars and their description differ between the books. Another difference is the commencement year of the conflict and the number over refugees accounted for. One important finding made, is the degree of neutrality distinguishes from book to book. One of them have chosen to exclude all the actors and countries while other books chooses to include them
