Summary: | Previous research on female converts has primarily dealt with the process of conversion, identity-making and reasons behind the choice to convert. This essay studies the experiences of individuals after the conversion has been fulfilled, especially their feelings of alienation. Four different weblogs written by the female converts are examined. Events where alienation can be identified, indirectly or directly, are studied. The empirical data from the weblogs are placed in five categories to systematically present, discuss and analyze examples where the female converts experienced alienation. The conclusion of the essay presents why the female converts experience alienation in integration with their surroundings. Female converts are considered individuals with a lack of resources who cannot conduct an exchange of social capital with their surroundings.
